PROJECT SCOPE
This project focused on designing a contemporary editorial book centered on Brutalist architecture, highlighting its raw materials, structural honesty, and bold geometric forms. The concept was driven by Brutalism’s function-first philosophy, using a strict grid system, high-contrast typography, and a minimal color palette to reflect the movement’s visual weight and clarity.
The scope of work included concept development, layout and grid design, typographic hierarchy, and image selection. Careful attention was given to pacing, readability, and visual rhythm across spreads, resulting in a cohesive, print-ready publication that communicates complex architectural ideas through clear and intentional visual design.
FINAL NOTES
The project met its goals by using a rigid grid system and consistent typographic hierarchy to maintain clarity and structure across all spreads. High-contrast type, controlled spacing, and limited color were used to guide the reader through complex information without distraction. Image placement and scale emphasized materiality and form, while the restrained design approach ensured that every visual decision supported the content, aligning directly with Brutalism’s function-first philosophy.
